Bowling
Colgrain Bowling Club

People have been tossing balls around the grass since the 15th century but it took a Scottish company, Thomas Taylor, to produce standardised kit using a machine lathe.

And it was Scottish players who reorganised the game, using curling as a model, and created what is known as flat green bowling today.

Indoor Bowls

During the winter months when the outdoor season closes, we run various indoor carpet competitions on the 2 indoor carpets we have. The indoor carpets are popular with members who find the physical aspect of the outdoor season challenging.
Social members can upgrade their membership to include the indoor season at a cost of £20 per season. Full membership includes the winter carpet bowls at no additional cost.
